"The Diary is really where the rubber meets the road for your Wonder-Walking practice."
A Diary of Wonder
“I truly believe the Diary will encourage you to ground your wonder-walking practice in ritual and help you commit to feeling more alive and creative every day." - Amy T. Won, artist and creator.
The Diary is really where the rubber meets the road for your Wonder-Walking practice.
It’s one thing to draw a card and wonder-walk regularly, but another thing completely when you begin recording your wonder adventures on a page, either intuitively, from memory, or in situ. From my experience, something deep within shifts and one becomes highly attuned to enchantment because this interactive ritual demands total participation from the body, mind and spirit. This could be hugely transformational.
I want this Diary to be worthy of such a wonder-awakening. Something that feels magical and lovingly hand-crafted, like you've received one of my personal journals to create in.
I want it to delight your inner child and kindle a gleeful desire to unpack your childhood crayons, color pencils, your untouched watercolor set! You don't even have to paint, you can collage, write, mind-map or come up with your own unique combination of mixed media techniques!
Diary Features:
- B6 Size (5" x 7") cloth-covered, case-bound, lay-flat hardcover with gold details.
- 120-160 pages of 148lb sustainable paper with a little tooth. Takes most fountain pen inks, light watercolors and gouache with no bleed through.
- 25 full-color guidance pages in the front of Diary, hand-illustrated & hand-lettered in watercolor, ink and gouache to inspire your wonder-journaling.
- Journaling pages are blank (no dots, grids or lines) for maximum creativity!
Thoughts on the Design:
I chose the B6 (5” x 7”) size because it's the exact size of the first Wonder Journal that I committed to. It’s smaller than the Explorer’s Journal Guidebook and will fit in your Explorer’s Pouch together with the Deck, Guidebook and a mini painting/writing kit. Because of its smaller size, it’s also less intimidating to begin a wonder journaling practice with - you have less blank page to cover! It's also highly portable, cozy and adorable!
As a painter/illustrator/art journaler, the paper is a crucial part of the journaling experience. While I love a good heavyweight paper that takes water media well, I wanted the Diary to prioritize journaling/writing with the prompts from the Guidebook, while making painting a fun optional. The paper thickness I settled on is a happy medium because you can lightly paint in it but also have more pages to work with in total.
The perfect companion to ‘A Deck for Wonder-Walking’ and the 'Explorer's Journal'.
"Wonder-walking is tremendously healing. It slows us down and urges us to see the magic in our everyday. It reconnects us to the world around us and awakens our creativity."
This is a Deck of Walking Cards.
Use them to inspire your walk in nature, in city streets, in your neighborhood park. Each card in the deck is an invitation to look closer and immerse deeper, not only in the sense of a place, but also to know ourselves in it. How we belong. How it makes us feel. How it heals.
They are archetypal, as all wonder-making experiences are, so you can use them for divination, and as journaling and painting prompts to connect the physical to the primordial.
It reconnects us to everything we're losing just by existing in a modern world.
The Explorer’s Journal of Wonder-Walking is 263 pages, beautifully illustrated, full-color hardcover journal and guidebook that goes in depth into the practice of Wonder-Walking with detailed card meanings, journal and nature-observation prompts, as well as creative activities to try out in nature.
It’s part walking guidebook, part living tome to wonder with FOUR pages per card and lots of space to record your big walking ideas and epiphanies for future walks.
